Removal & Installation
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove rear wheels. Remove brake discs on rear axle. See BRAKE DISC (FRONT & REAR)

- Pre-tension automatic cable slack adjuster by turning detent eccentric bolt (g) to the left using appropriate size Allen wrench (approximately half a turn) and simultaneously push backwards in slot until spring loaded detent eccentric (b) engages with raised section (h) in hold down clip (d). See Figure
.
- Unhook retracting spring (111) using extraction and insertion tool (041). See Fig 1
.
- Unhook retaining springs (107) and pin (106).
- Remove brake shoes (103) over axle shaft flange (68).
- Remove retracting spring (112).
- Remove expanding lock (109).
- Installation is the reverse of removal. Coat all bearing and slide surfaces on expanding lock (109), thread of thrust piece (104) and cylindrical part of adjusting wheel (c) with MB long-term grease. Ensure retracting spring (112) is seated correctly. Turn back adjusting mechanism (105) and place on brake shoes (103) so that the adjuster (c) points downward. Ensure that retracting spring is seated correctly. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
