Electronic traction system (ETS), task/benefits - GF42.35-P-0001-02C
The "Electronic traction system" (ETS) is an automatic system for improving the starting off and acceleration capacity particularly on road surfaces with different grip. In the process the slipping of the 4 drive wheels is limited or controlled by a brake intervention. It replaces the locking differential on the front and rear axles and in the transfer case.
An engine intervention is not performed.
The ABS and ETS basic components are combined in the ETS hydraulic unit.
The ABS and ETS circuits are also combined in the ETS electronic system.
Brake moment control circuit
ABS prevents the wheels locking when braking and thus maintains steerability and vehicle stability during vehicle deceleration. ETS prevents the drive wheels spinning when starting off and accelerating within specified speed ranges.
Advantages

- A warning lamp signals when a wheel speed does not agree with the vehicle speed. It thus warns the driver that he has approached the physical limit with his vehicle.
