Connect wiring harness - AN31.19-P-8080-03FFA
Vehicles with Parktronic system (code 220)
-
- Remove grommet (16) (is no longer needed).
Connection schematic for wiring harness
Routing diagram for wiring harness
- Remove grommet (16) (is no longer needed).
- Place trailer coupling wiring harness (1) with branch-off line to trailer coupling socket in the spare wheel recess.
- Connect the brown line (br) to ground (left taillamp in luggage compartment)(W6/1)(see magnified section).
- Route trailer hitch wiring harness (1) along the rear end center assembly to the hole (22) and fix in position.
Attach wiring harness with wide felt tape to longitudinal member (see arrow).
-
-
- Slit the grommet (16) and insert the trailer hitch wiring harness (1) into the grommet (16).
- Reinstall the grommet (16) and seal with Terrastat for example.
-
- Mark center of hole from end of rear cross member and from floor panel of connection longitudinal member down onto spare wheel well.
- Drill hole to dia. 38 mm.
- Route the trailer hitch wiring harness (1) with grommet (17) through the hole and seal in the spare wheel well with a second grommet (18).
Vehicles without Parktronic system (code 220)
-
- Plug 3-pin coupling and 13-pin coupling from trailer hitch wiring harness (1) into socket housing (10) and seal with grommet (17).
It should be ensured that the sealing lip of the grommet (17) abuts the socket housing (10) without any creases.
- Fasten the socket housing (10) to the bracket (19) of the trailer hitch using three 4.832 x 32 mm sheet metal screws.
- Fasten trailer hitch wiring harness (1) to bracket (19) using Omega clip (see arrow in Figure on top left).
Shown on model 203
- Widen recess clearance to dimensions in shield
- Route trailer coupling wiring harness (1) along existing wiring to control module rack on left wheelhouse and fix in place (figure on left).
- Route trailer coupling wiring harness (1) below control module rack (see arrow in figure on right) and through opening on left next to seat backrest and fix in place.
- Route trailer hitch wiring harness (1) along existing lines over the left wheelhouse to the left cable duct and fix in position up to the branch-off line (see arrow in Figure on right).
- Route cable branch-off lines, red/blue (rt/bl) and brown/white (br/ws), to rear fuse box (F4).
- Fasten lines with adhesive pads and tie straps supplied (Figure on left).
-
-
- Insert the fuse block (B) supplied
- Insert plug of red auxiliary line (rt) in the free chamber E of the plug position 12 in the fuse block (B) (see magnified section on right).
- Route red cable (rt) along existing cables to battery positive terminal and fix in place.
- Fasten cable lug of the red line (rt) to the positive battery terminal (see magnified section on the left).
-
- Insert red/blue line (rt/bl) in the free chamber D of the plug position 12 in the fuse block (B).
- Assign fuse position 12 with a 25A fuse (arrow).
It must be pointed out to the customer that fuse 12 should only be fitted when operating a trailer otherwise a remote consumer could discharge the battery.
- Route the brown/white cable (br/ws) behind the rear fuse box (F4) to the pneumatic control unit with combined functions (A37) and connect by means of tie straps supplied.
- Detach and open white coupling from pneumatic control unit with combined functions (A37) (see magnified section).
-
-
- Insert brown/white cable (br/ws) into free contact 2 of white coupling (see arrow in detail).
If chamber 2 is assigned, adapt the brown/white line (br/ws) with voltage distributor to the line from chamber 2 a (Remove plug-in sleeve ).
-
- Insert brown/white cable (br/ws) onto free contact 15 of white coupling (see arrow).
If chamber 15 is assigned, adapt brown/white line (br/ws) to the line from chamber with voltage distributor (Remove plug-in sleeve ).
Vehicles as of 01.03.1997
-
- Expose black/green line (sw/gn) and black/white line (sw/ws) from the cable duct and check with the multimeter signal.
Left rear turn signal lamp has cable color black/green (sw/gn), Right rear turn signal lamp has cable color black/white (sw/ws).
- Connect the black/green line (sw/gn) from the trailer hitch wiring harness (1) to the black/green line (right rear turn signal lamp) by means of a voltage distributor (see magnified section).
- Connect black/white line (sw/ws) from the trailer hitch wiring harness (1) to the black/white line (left rear turn signal lamp) by means of a voltage distributor (see magnified section).
-
-
- Expose brown/white line from the cable duct.
- Expose brown/white line from the trailer hitch wiring harness (1).
- Connect the lines by means of a voltage distributor (see magnified section).
-
- Expose gray/green line (gr/gn) for rear fog lamp from the cable duct and cut through.
- Connect green/white line end (gn/ws) from the trailer hitch wiring harness (1) by means of a voltage distributor to the gray/green line end (gr/gn) which comes from the light module (N7-1)
- Connect gray/green line end (gr/gn) from the trailer hitch wiring harness (1) by means of a voltage distributor to the gray/green line end (gr/gn) which goes to the left taillamp (E3).
- Route the trailer hitch wiring harness (1) along the cable duct to the left A-pillar.
- Route the black 10-pin coupling to the light module (N7-1) behind the exterior lamp switch (26) and fit in a free chamber.
Coupling is coded.
- Place bracket (10) into spare wheel.
- Place ball head (12) into recess clearance of (10) (figure on left).
- Glue operating instructions plate (13) onto the trunk sill (figure on right).
- Insert the plugs supplied into holes (2l) and (2r).
