Retrofitting auto-pilot system wiring harness - AN82.61-P-1001-01P

Model 210.0 up to 05/96 with engines 104, 111, 112, 113, 604, 605, 606, 611, 612 or 613 

  1. Modify auto-pilot system wiring harness (1) according to figure (tie out all wires not required).

  2. Prepare auto-pilot system (1) wiring harness according to figure

  3. Route wiring harness along existing leads in vehicle according to figure.

  4. Route auto-pilot system (1) wiring harness along existing wires in trunk according to figure.

  5. Connect brown lead to ground (taillamp in trunk) (W6/1).

  6. Solder gray/yellow lead (gr/ye) for backup lamp signal in wiring harness (1) to gray/yellow lead (gr/ye) for taillamp on left in trunk lid with solder connector.

  7. Route auto-pilot system (1) wiring harness in left cable duct to driver footwell.
  8. Route tie-out to radio and navigation operating unit (A2/29) in driver footwell according to figure and fasten with felt.

  9. Route yellow (ye) lead and black/yellow (bk/ye) lead from auto-pilot system (1) wiring harness through center tunnel to passenger footwell according to figure.
  10. Continue to route yellow lead (ye) (tie-out for right wheel speed signal) to control module box.
  11. Route black/yellow lead (bk/ye) (tie-out left wheel speed signal) to wiring duct on right A- pillar.

  12. Install round terminal on black/yellow lead (bk/ye) and connect to terminal block (left front traction system VSS sensor) (X62/19).

  13. Install contact spring (arrow) on yellow lead (ye).

  14. Disconnect the larger of the two connectors from traction system control module (N47) and open.
  15. Insert contact spring for yellow lead (ye) into chamber 23 of connector.
  16. Close connector and reconnect to traction system control module (N47).

  17. Jack up vehicle at front until front wheels can be rotated.
  18. Connect battery, switch on ignition.
  19. Measure DC voltage between yellow lead (ye); black/yellow lead (bk/ye) and ground with multimeter. Yellow lead (ye) for right front wheel signal. Black/yellow lead (bk/ye) for left front wheel signal, reading with wheel standing still "0 V or 12 V", with wheel rotating approx. "6V". A pulse signal should be present when the wheel is turning.

  20. Switch off ignition, disconnect battery.
  21. Route tie-out to radio and navigation operating unit APS in radio shaft.

  22. Route tie-out to front fuse and relay box (F1) and to data link connector (X11/4) to fuse box in front.
  23. Install new terminal on red/yellow lead (terminal 30) from wiring harness (1) and connect to fuse 5 in fuse and relay box (F1).
  24. Install new terminal on black/gray/red lead (bk/gr/rd) and connect to fuse 13 in fuse and relay box (F1).
  25. Open data link connector (X11/4).
  26. Route blue lead (bl) from chamber 32 to data link connector (X11/4).
  27. Close data link connector (X11/4).
