Retrofitting auto-pilot system wiring harness - AN82.61-P-1001-01O

Model 210.2 

  1. Modify auto-pilot system wiring harness (1) according to figure (tie out all wires not required).

  2. Prepare auto-pilot system (1) wiring harness as shown in figure

  3. Route wiring harness along existing wires in vehicle as shown in figure.

  4. Route auto-pilot system wiring harness (1) along present wires in load compartment on left trunk as shown in figure.

  5. Connect brown wire to ground for left taillamp in trunk (W6/1).

  6. Solder gray/yellow wire (gr/ge) for back-up lamp signal from wiring harness (1) to gray/yellow wire (gr/ge) for taillamp at wire exit to left C-pillar using solder connector.

  7. Route auto-pilot system wiring harness (1) to driver's footwell in the left cable duct.
  8. Route tie-out to radio and navigation operating unit (A2/29) in driver's footwell as shown in figure and fasten with felt.

  9. Route yellow (ge) wire and black/yellow (sw/ge) wire from auto-pilot system wiring harness (1) over center tunnel to passenger footwell as shown in figure.
  10. Route the two wires (speed signal tie-outs) on to control module box.

  11. Disconnect the smaller of the two connectors (2) from the traction system control module (N47) and open at rear.
  12. Solder yellow wire (ge) from wiring harness (1) to green wire (gn) from chamber 1 of connector (2) using solder connector.
  13. Solder black/yellow wire (sw/ge) from wiring harness (1) to green/white wire (gn/ws) from chamber 2 of connector (2) with solder connector.

  14. Jack up vehicle at front until front wheels can be turned.
  15. Connect battery, switch on ignition.
  16. Use multimeter to measure DC voltage between yellow wire (ge), black/yellow wire (sw/ge) and ground. The yellow wire (ge) is for the right front wheel signal. The black/yellow wire (sw/ ge) is for the left front wheel signal with wheel standing still "0 V or 12 V" and with wheel turning approx. "6 V". A pulse signal should be measurable when wheel is turning.

  17. Switch off ignition, disconnect battery.
  18. Route tie-out to radio and navigation operating unit (APS) in radio shaft.

  19. Route tie-out from front fuse and relay box (F1) and to data link connector (X11/4) toward front to fuse box.
  20. Install new terminal on red/yellow wire (circuit 30) from wiring harness (1) and connect to fuse 5 in fuse and relay box (F1) (fuse 5 must be protected with 25 A).
  21. Install new terminal on black/gray/red wire (sw/gr/rt) and connect to fuse 13 in fuse and relay box (F1).
  22. Open data link connector (X 11/4).
  23. Insert blue wire (bl) into chamber 32 on data link connector (X11/4).
  24. Close data link connector (X11/4).
