APS version  - - Dynamic guidance (code 815) 
Takes into consideration current traffic situation by receiving information via FM or cellular telephone network (presently only in combination with cellular telephone "D"  network (code 312)).
Navigation processor (A2/30) and global positioning system control module (GPS, N41/2)  CD-ROM drive with  cartridge, front cooling element
N41/2 is attached separately to the navigation processor (A2/30) 
CD-ROM drive without  cartridge, no front cooling element
N41/2 is integrated into navigation processor (A2/30)

IMPORTANT From 6.97 to 7.97 vehicles (models 149, 210.0) were already equipped with the GPS/telephone roof antenna (A2/49)  .
Combination antenna for telephone and GPS: GPS/telephone roof antenna (A2/49) 
Models 129 and 208.4 are equipped with the rear global positioning system antenna (A2/23a2)  .
IMPORTANT The telephone components for the roof antenna are required for APS only after introduction of the dynamic guidance special equipment (code 815) and telephone special equipment (approx. 5.98).
Sensor determination of direction vehicle is pointing  Electronic compass (B26) 
Installation location:
Model 140 on rear vehicle headliner
Model 210 on rear shelf
Same as 1st generation Gyro sensor which does not require calibration integrated into navigation processor (N2/30)  . The electronic compass (B26)  is eliminated.
Also eliminated on:
  • Model 210  : Reference resistor on rear window defroster required for compass calibration.
  • Model 140  : Power tap on rear window defroster.
System interlinkage  Data leads (not CAN data bus) to navigation processor (A2/30)  Same as 1st generation Separate CAN data bus from navigation processor (A2/30)  to radio and navigation operating unit (A2/29)  and (only with code 815) to traffic data memory (A2/43)  .
System testing and diagnosis  Possible on radio and navigation operating unit (A2/29)  , a special test CD is required which can be inserted into the navigation processor.
Diagnosis is not  possible with the HHT.
