11.12.06 Self-locking nut, upper wishbone follower joint to steering knuckle   *BA33.20-P-1007-01F 
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A

IMPORTANTInstallation  Only tighten nuts and bolts of chassis components when vehicle is in a ready-to-drive condition.    
1 Reduce pressure in suspension strut (40) with STAR DIAGNOSIS IMPORTANTInstallation:  Recharge to 5 bar.
NOTES The wheels must not touch the ground while pressurizing because the air bellows in the suspension strut (40) will be destroyed if pressurized with the suspension compressed.
 
2 Detach pressure line connection (40a) on suspension strut (40) NOTES Residual pressure in suspension strut up to 3.5 bar.
If the residual pressure valve (a) is damaged, replace suspension strut.
IMPORTANTSPECIAL TOOL Seal pressure line with stop plug during repair work.
If pressure line connections or pressure lines are damaged: ↓
 
    Repair AIRmatic pressure line connections. AR32.22-P-2001-02I 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA32.25-P-1002-04C 
    SPECIAL TOOL Set of plugs Fig 4
3 Unscrew nuts (40b) on front end NOTESInstallation  : Fit nuts (40b) and then tighten after inflating the suspension strut (40) in ready to drive vehicle.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA32.25-P-1001-04C 
4 Remove front wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels   AP40.10-P-4050Z
5 Detach damping valve unit connector for left front axle or right front axle (Y51x1/Y52x1) IMPORTANT To remove press in spring (arrow).  
6 Remove suspension strut (40) from spring control arm (17). TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA32.25-P-1006-04C 
7 Press follower joint (8) out of steering knuckle (5)   AR33.20-P-0500-01N

8 Remove suspension strut (40) NOTES When installing new or used suspension struts (40), check their condition, see:

    Check minimum installation length of suspension struts and replace suspension struts if necessary. AR32.25-P-1017-02I 
REFER TO FORMS Dispose of suspension strut.   OS32.25-P-0122-01J 
9 Install in the reverse order    
10 Check AIRmatic for leaks.   AR32.22-P-8100I
