CD player with changer, function - GF82.64-P-3113-02PMA
Controlling CD player
The CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) is controlled by the following components via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) depending on the vehicle equipment:
- Radio (A2)
- Radio and navigation unit (A2/56)
- COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3)
The CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) generates messages on various operating conditions and forwards them via the MOST to the control unit depending on the equipment variant. The following are part of the operating conditions generated by the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6):
- No magazine in CD changer
- Magazine occupation (audio CDs only)
- Number of current CD
- Number of current title
- List of occupied insertion slots
- Number of titles per CD
- Current operating state (playback, pause, etc.)
CD playback
The audio data is stored digitally on the CD. In the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) the audio CD is driven by motor. The laser-optical device scans the side of the rotating CD without print without touching and converts the digital optical signals into electric signals. Small interruptions to the data flow of the laser optics, caused by scratches or contamination on the audio CD, are subsequently interpolated and thus compensated for.
The electric signals are then decoded in the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) and forwarded via the MOST, dependent upon the equipment of the vehicle, to the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3), the radio (A2) or the sound amplifier (A2/13).
Playback of an audio CD in MP3 format
It is also possible to playback audio CDs in MP3 format in the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) in addition to conventional audio CDs. In doing so, a conventional audio CD is emulated (simulated).
