Removal & Installation

NOTE: Letters and numbers in parenthesis correspond to letters and numbers in illustrations.
  1. Raise vehicle and support. Remove rear wheels.
  2. Remove torsion bar (77) from left and right link rod (78) by removing nut. See Fig 1.
  3. Unscrew retaining bracket from torsion bar bracket on rear axle carrier (77d) by removing bolts of retaining bracket.
  4. Remove torsion bar. Pull off rubber mount (2c), check and replace if necessary. Do not use grease or lubricants.
  5. NOTE: Do not remove link rod (78) from wheel carrier if only the torsion bar needs to be removed.
  6. Remove link rod (78) from bolt connecting rod to wheel carrier.
  7. Installation is reverse of removal procedure. Tighten nuts and bolts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
