Test instructions for ABS tester with fault memory Part No. 124 589 22 21 00 - RA42001240730X(42-0730)
Model 124 (except 124.034), 129 (except 129.058/063), 201
- Do not use ABS tester with fault memory for diagnosis on vehicles with ASR, ASD and 4MATIC.
- Test trips using the tester are only to be carried out by workshop personnel.
Test sequence
- Remove ABS control unit and install tester, route electrical cable with light-emitting diode in the interior compartment of the vehicle.
- Start engine.
- ABS malfunction indicator lamp: ON Count number of LED pulses (automatically repeated after 10 seconds).
- ABS malfunction indicator lamp: OFF Perform test drive
- Test drive vehicle.
- ABS malfunction indicator lamp: OFF ABS in order
- ABS malfunction indicator lamp: ON
Count number of LED pulses (automatically repeated after 10 seconds).
Do not switch off engine - otherwise fault memory in tester will be erased.
- After fault diagnosis - remove tester, install ABS control unit.

1 Valve, front left hydraulic unit)
2 Valve, front right hydraulic unit) Replace hydraulic unit
3 or 4 Valve, rear hydraulic unit)
5 Front left wheel speed sensor)
6 Front right wheel speed sensor) Replace wheel speed sensor or check cable harness
7 or 8 Rear wheel speed sensor)
9 Pump or pump relay defective
10 Valve relay defective
