Tire pressure monitor (TPM), activation - GF40.15-P-0001-02C
Models 215, 220 as of 01.10.00 up to 31.05.01
If the tire pressure is changed by the driver, or if a wheel is replaced or a tire is changed, the set air pressure values must be stored in the TPM control unit (N88) as nominal monitoring values.
Proceed as follows:
- Engine OFF!
- Correct the air pressure at each wheel.
- Switch on ignition.
- Use the system select pushbutton (S110s3) to select the tire pressure monitor system.
- Press and hold down the reset button (1) on the instrument cluster (A1) until this display appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
- Press the reset button (1) on the instrument cluster (A1) again briefly to confirm.
- This system message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13). This message disappears next time the engine is started.
If this system message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13), the activation sequence must be repeated.
System message
Occasionally, this system message or a pressure display without numerical values may be displayed for a short time instead of the pressure values. This is the case when wheel sensors have recently been replaced or different wheels have been fitted. In these cases the tire pressure monitor system checks whether the locations of the wheels have changed.
Pressure display without numerical values
The pressure values are only displayed when the system has been able to match the signals to the wheels. Initially, the system message is displayed. This system message is displayed until the transmitted signals are plausible again. The pressure display then appears without numerical values until the initialization sequence is complete (total driving time max. 30 min).
