SERVICE INFORMATION

This revised Service Campaign bulletin 2005030003 supersedes previously issued Service Campaign bulletin 2005030003 released in April 2005. It contains updated warranty information to allow the repair of noticeable corrosion under certain conditions. Please destroy all previous Service Campaign bulletin versions.

This Service Campaign has been initiated because DCAG has determined that on the affected vehicles (see VIN range below) the seal at the bottom of the doors may be insufficient and requires additional sealing material.

Please review the Effective Serial Number chart located below and if necessary repair the subject vehicles during the vehicle's next service.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

Please check VMI to insure the vehicle is involved and to determine if the vehicle has been previously repaired.
Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin.

Approximately 212,885 vehicles are affected.

PROCEDURE

Fig 1: Removing Lower Door Strip

Remove lower door strip (A, Fig 1).
NOTE:
- Be careful not to bend door strip (A) when removing.
- Observe installed position of door strip (A) before removing to ensure proper positioning when reinstalling.
Check to see if any corrosion is present on the door contact area. If corrosion is present, refer to WIS: GF98.00-U-9200A for proper evaluation and repair procedures before proceeding.
NOTE:
- Only approved repair materials are to be used for corrosion repairs. Refer to Star Bulletin S-B-98.00/13V for a list of approved materials.
- If you are unable to view the WIS document on WIS-Net, please check to see that the language settings are set correctly (Priority 1: US English, Priority 2: English.)
Thoroughly clean lower door strip (A, Fig 1) and door contact area with silicone remover (shop supplies) and dry area with compressed air.
NOTE:
- To ensure proper adhesion, there must be no cleaning agent residues remaining on contact surfaces.
Insert nozzle of sealing agent cartridge (arrow, Fig 1) into door strip (A) as far as possible then fill lower door strip (A) with sealing compound.
NOTE: The door strip is properly filled with sealing compound when the compound is clearly visible.
Reinstall lower door strip (A, Fig 1) onto door.
Clean any excess compound from door and lower door strip (A).
Repeat procedure on all doors.

NOTE: The following allowable labor operation should be used when submitting a warranty claim for this repair:

Note- Corrosion Repairs: If the vehicle requires corrosion repair based on the referenced WIS document, submit for reimbursement utilizing damage code 72 900 38 7. Damage code 72 900 38 7 is only claimable once for all required repairs. If "sublet" work is required (paint repair etc), submit as a "sublet" with sublet code of "SUB". In addition, dealer text will require the "Rust Rating" (for example, Rust Rating 4). All rust repairs require photo and supporting documentation to be placed in vehicle history file attached to the repair order.

NOTE: Please be aware that only the part number(s) referenced in the Campaign Bulletin is/are approved for use to repair the vehicle. Repairs performed using any other part(s) will not have been performed in accordance with the campaign.
