Remove/install rear axle brake caliper - AR42.10-P-0080I

11.8.05 Self-locking bolt, fixed caliper to wheel carrier Model 215.379 *BA42.10-P-1001-12G 
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes. Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
1 Raise vehicle with lifting platform    
2 Remove rear wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels   AP40.10-P-4050Z
3 Remove brake hose (51) from brake line (5) and seal line terminals with SPECIAL TOOL stop plugs NOTES Seal off line terminals immediately with SPECIAL TOOL stop plugs. The expansion reservoir for brake fluid may not become entirely empty to prevent bubbles from getting into the brake system. AR42.10-P-0013I

4 Remove brake hose (51) from brake caliper (31b)   AR42.10-P-0013I

5 Detach right rear brake pad contact sensor (S10/4) from the right rear brake pad contact sensor connector (S10/4x1) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Damaged or defective contact sensors must be replaced with new sensors.

6 Remove right rear brake pad contact sensor connector (S10/4x1) from brake caliper (31b) IMPORTANT Removal on left side is same as on right side.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace self-locking bolt.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Brake caliper *BA42.10-P-1004-12G 
7 Remove brake linings from brake caliper (31b) Vehicles with fixed brake caliper AR42.10-P-0161I 
    Vehicles with floating brake caliper AR42.10-P-0160I 
8 Remove brake caliper (31b) from wheel carrier IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace bolts (35).  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.10-P-1001-12G 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.10-P-1003-12G 
9 Install in the reverse order    
10 Bleed brake system Model 215, model 220 without special protection version, without top protection AR42.10-P-0010I 
    Model 220 with special protection version code 979, with top protection code Z07 AR42.10-P-0010MB 
DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work Before starting engine, actuate brake pedal several times until the pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A
11 Operate brake pedal several times until the brake linings make contact with the brake disks (firm resistance can be felt)    
INSPECT Checking     
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

12 Carry out engine test run and check brake system for function and leaks NOTES In the event of a leak, determine and eliminate cause, otherwise malfunctions of the brake system and serious environmental pollution may occur.
