Notes on D2B ring - AH82.70-P-0001-03IA

Model 220 

  1. In this case the components in the D2B ring are:
    • Radio (A2) or  COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3)
    • Sound amplifier (A2/13)
    • CD changer (A2/6)
    • D2B interface for permanently installed telephone (A59) (only with code 316)

      or 

      D2B interface for portable mobile telephone (A59/1) (only with code 317)

      or 

      TELE AID control module (A35/8) (code 347)

  2. The information in the D2B ring flows only in one direction (arrows). The information enters the M1 to M3 fiber optic cable modules at the white insert (ws) and exits at the red insert (rt) at the next ring component.

    IMPORTANT The D2B ring operates only as closed circuit.

  3. In order to supplement the D2B ring it is necessary to determine the actual configuration in the vehicle.

  4. Determine actual configuration in vehicle and note

    Configuration with maximum equipment. 

    This corresponds simultaneously to the ring sequence and the direction of information flow (from 1 to 7) and must  be maintained when retrofitting.

    1a Head unit (HU) radio (standard equipment) or 

    1b Head unit (HU) COMAND (special equipment)

    2 Sound amplifier (special equipment)

    3 CD changer with changer (special equipment)

    4 Telephone (permanently installed or cellular telephone) or  TELE AID (special equipment)

    5 Voice control system (special equipment)

    6 Optional cellular telephone

    7a Head unit (HU) radio (standard equipment)or

    7b Head unit (HU) COMAND (special equipment)

    IMPORTANT If one of these pieces of special equipment (SA) is not present the item is eliminated resulting in a new sequence.

  5. Determining special equipment on the vehicle:
    1. Sound amplifier (N40/3): Open trunk, left side
    2. CD player with changer (A2/6): Open trunk, left side
    3. Telephone (permanently installed or portable): Open stowage compartment in armrest
    4. Voice control system: Switch on telephone, press button for voice control system (S93/2) on multifunction steering wheel (model 220), actuate voice control system switch (S93/2) on jacket tube (model 215), beep tone sounds, voice control system present
    5. Optional portable telephone: Open glove compartment
    6. Tele Aid emergency call system switch (S93/3) present
