Align vehicle between the columns of the and position the four support plates below the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

Removal fixture for axles

1 Raise vehicle with lifting platform.

Model 163.174 only

2.1 Remove rear muffler (1)

Model 163.174 only

3.1 Remove shield of rear muffler (2).
4 Detach rod of level control (4) at top of mounting (3).
5 Remove lower bolts of mounting of check strap on rear axle carrier and frame floor assembly.

6 Support rear axle by axle removal device and pit lift or assembly lift.
Ensure that the guide pin is inserted in the rear axle carrier so that the rear axle cannot slip.
7 Remove bolts of rear axle carrier (arrows) on frame floor assembly.
8 Lower rear axle.
Lower rear axle carefully. Ensure that no cables and lines are pinched.

Suspension struts limit the travel for lowering the rear axle.
9 Install in the reverse order.
