| Traces of coolant on expansion reservoir |
CAUSE
The inspection of removed and returned parts (reservoirs and caps) does not reveal any function impairments. The cause of the traces may be dried droplets, e.g. from opening the cap to check the coolant level. Furthermore, the system pressure may have forced minimal quantities of coolant out of the threads of the expansion reservoir and onto the top of the reservoir.
REMEDY
The traces are therefore not an indication of a function impairment. For this reason components must not be replaced on account of coolant traces of this kind. Clean the threads of the cap and reservoir if necessary.
