6	Check prerequisites		Battery voltage between 8 and 17 V
7			Actuation of the variable intake manifold switchover valve is checked for to detect a cable breakage and short-circuit (to ground or battery voltage). A short circuit to ground and a line interruption will be detected when the output stages are locked, whilst a short circuit to the battery voltage will be detected when the output stages are conducting. The output stage is immediately no longer activated when a fault arises.
