Throttle valve actuator, ME-SFI fault code description - AD07.61-P-4000-49L

    Throttle valve actuator
1 Fault code
(USA ONLY Display on generic scan tool)
P2032 Throttle valve, actual value potentiometer (P0120)
2 Fault storage After expiry of test duration and fault
Activation of the engine diagnosis indicator lamp (EURO3/4)
or CHECK ENGINE (MIL) malfunction indicator lamp USA ONLY
Following two successive driving cycles with faults
3 Checking frequency Continuous
4 Checked signal or status Signals from actual value potentiometers 1 and 2
5 Fault setting conditions 
Voltage difference between signal 1 and signal 2
Short circuit to positive
Open circuit
  • f signals 1 and 2 are added the sum must be 5 V (±8V).
If signal 1 is larger than 4.85 V or signal 2 larger than 4.75 V, a short-circuit to positive is present (12 V or 5 V) or the throttle valve actuator is faulty.If signal 1 is smaller than 0.275 V or signal 2 smaller than 0.175 V, an interruption is present or the throttle valve actuator is faulty..
6 Check prerequisites
  • The lower and upper stop must be taught in
  • Engine speed greater than 1300 rpm
7 IMPORTANT
  • In the event of a fault, the system switches over to "electrical actuator emergency running mode" and driving continues with one potentiometer. By comparing the throttle valve angle with air mass, a decision is made as to which pedal value sensor position is OK. The throttle valve angle is limited.
Both actual value potentiometers work in opposite directions.

Engine 112, 113: 2.0 kΩ, ±20 %

Engine 137: 1.25 kΩ, ±20%

r2 Actual value potentiometer 2, actuator motor 1.25 kΩ, ±20%

r3, 4 Series resistor 300 Ω, ±30 %
