| 2 | Fault storage | after expiry of test duration and fault |
| Actuation CHECK ENGINE (MIL) malfunction indicator lamp |
following two successive driving cycles with faults | |
| 3 | Checking frequency | Continuous |
| 4 | Checked signal or status | tank pressure sensor signal |
| 5 | Fault setting conditions | Less than 3.3 V (equivalent to an approx. +5 mbar vacuum) |
| Limit value | About 10 seconds per limit value | |
| Checking duration | ||
| 6 | Check prerequisites |
|
| 6 | If an engine at normal operating temperature has been shut down for long enough (coolant temperature dropped below +40°C), then the tank pressure must have been removed. If the sensor voltage exceeds the limit value, the tank pressure is too high. Either the fuel tank pressure sensor is defective or the activated charcoal canister is clogged. The leak test for purging will be locked out if there is a fault. Characteristic of the tank pressure sensor: - 50 mbar, about 0.5 volts; 0 mbar, about 3.0 volts; +30 mbar approx. 4.5 volts. |
