Check PTS sensors for sensitivity - AF54.65-P-2002-01A
The following tests allows PTS sensors which react too sensitively to be found.
Prerequisites for testing:
- Important: It must be windstill at the testing location!
- No current or stored DTC's in DTC memory.
- The cooling water temperature in the vehicle in question must be > 80 °C.
- Do not shut off engine.
- Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS.
- Call up actual values for front Parktronic sensors.
- Move vehicle forward in front of an obstacle (e.g. house wall, garage door), until 1 or 2 segments come on in the warning display.
If none of the sensors react after 10 min:
↓
- Move vehicle closer to obstacle until 3 or 4 segments come on in the warning display.
- Observe the actual values and read off whether sensors indicate different distances.
This test can require up to 30 min before a sensor indicates different values during measurement.
The following deviations/variations when reading off the actual values in STAR DIAGNOSIS are not critical: Jumps in actual values/readings less than 10 cm and jumps alternating from readings such as 80 cm to 255 cm.
Example:
- Reading = 110 cm, reading jumps occasionally between 100 cm and 120 cm → not critical
- Reading = 110 cm, reading jumps occasionally to 255 cm → not critical
- Reading = 110 cm, reading jumps occasionally to 70 cm → critical
↓
- Remove/install/replace only these sensors.
