Model 140, 163, 168, 169, 170, 171, 202, 203, 208, 210, 211, 220, 245, 638
Test sequence:
- Erect an obstacle 2 m behind the vehicle or drive the vehicle up to a fixed obstacle at the same distance.
- Start engine and engage reverse gear and engage reverse gear.
- When reverse gear is engaged a short chime must indicate that the ultrasonic backup assist is ready for operation.
- Follow the visual and acoustic warning course as per the graphic due to the vehicle getting closer to the obstacle.
- When the collision zone of 30 cm is reached all the light emitting diode must be switched on and the warning signal goes over to a continuous signal.
On model 169 only
an acoustic signal ensues, on model 171 only an optical warning signal ensues.
Potential faults and their cause:
- Deeper warning signal when backing up
- Acoustic disturbances, e.g. compressed-air noise which are in the ultrasonic range
- Deeper warning signal when engaging reverse gear
- Backup assist defective
- No chime when engaging reverse gear
- Backup assist defective
