The SAM control unit in the rear (N10/8) has the following tasks:
Actuating:
- exterior lights,
- seat belt wearing convenience,
- rear window heater,
- rear roller blind.
Reading in following sensors
- contact sensor for right rear brake linings (S10/4),
- fuel level sensor (B4).
Scanning the following switches:
- left front door contact switch (S17/3),
- right front door contact switch (S17/4),
- left rear door contact switch (S17/5) model 220 only,
- right rear door contact switch (S17/6) model 220 only,
- trunk lid power closing locking eye microswitch (S88/3),
- seat belt buckle switch and left rear seat belt comfort-fit, rear left (S68/11) and right (S68/12),
- ATA luggage compartment contact switch
- ATA fuel filler flap switch
- ATA rear bench seat switch.
Scanning the following signals:
- Stop lamp switch signal (circuit 54).
This signal does not come direct from the stop lamp switch (S9/1), but via a separate line from the traction systems control module (N47), which reads in the stop lamp switch (S9/1) directly.
Switching of consumers:
- Lamps of exterior lights,
- Lamps of trunk lighting,
- Heated rear window (R1),
- Solenoids for seat belt comfort-fit, rear left (K18/6) and rear right (K18/7) model 220 only.
Switching the following relays:
- Heated rear window relay (K40/5kU),
- Rear window roller blind relay(K40/5kQ),
- Towing sensor relay (K40/5kR),
- Circuit 15 relay (K40/5kS),
- Fuel pump relay (K40/5kT).
Over/Under voltage shutoff
In the event of over/undervoltage switching off occurs to protect consumers. As a data basis for the current voltage level the CAN message from the electronic ignition switch control module (N73) and the locally measured voltage circuit 30 at the rear SAM control module (N10/8) is used.
The SAM control unit in the rear (N10/8) is connected to the passenger compartment CAN for the exchange of data.
