Check and correct headlamp adjustment - AP82.10-P-8260M: Notes

MODIFICATION NOTES

25.6.03 Risk of death due to high voltage at Xenon headlamps, safety instructions newly included    
INSPECT Check     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by high voltage levels present at xenon headlamps.
Risk of explosion/fire hazard  through highly flammable material in the area of damaged xenon lamps
Risk of injury  through UV light, hot components on xenon headlamps and glass splinters when xenon bulbs burst
Risk of poisoning  through inhalation of mercury vapor and swallowing of or skin contact with toxic salts and mercury compounds
Do not come into contact with parts that are under high voltage. Persons with active electronic implants  (e.g. heart pacemakers) must never work on xenon headlamps. Switch off complete lighting system. Wear insulating safety shoes, safety glasses and protective gloves. Remove highly inflammable materials from the hazard area. Ensure that the workplace is sufficiently ventilated. AS82.10-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

1 Park vehicle on a level surface. IMPORTANT Vehicle must be in curb condition (curb weight, fuel tank full or corresponding additional weight).  
2 Correct tire inflation pressure    
3.1 Have person sit on driver seat or place load of 75 kg on seat. Except USA ONLY  
4 Allow engine to run for approx. 30 seconds at a moderate rpm and press switch for level control IMPORTANT Afterwards, the height of the vehicle has to be at a normal level. Move vehicle back and forth to correctly adjust axles.  
5 Align headlamp adjustment testing unit to the vehicle and carry out height setting according to middle of the lens. IMPORTANT Observe operating instructions for headlamp adjustment testing unit.

6 Start the engine and switch on low beam    
7.1 Check function of headlamp range adjustment by adjusting headlamp range adjustment switch Except bi-xenon headlamp unit CODE (614) or USA ONLY
IMPORTANT Both light beams of the headlamps must be evenly adjusted.
 
7.2 Check function of headlamp range adjustment through placement of additional weights in the luggage compartment With bi-xenon headlamp unit CODE (614) or USA ONLY
IMPORTANT The height of the light-dark boundary shall not change when loading or unloading the weights.
 
8.1 Remove additional weights from the luggage compartment With bi-xenon headlamp unit CODE (614) or USA ONLY  
9 Check low beam, if required correct setting IMPORTANT With bi-xenon headlamps CODE (614) or USA ONLY : correct setting against a separate order. AP82.10-P-8260-01A
10 Check setting of high beam IMPORTANT With bi-xenon headlamps CODE (614) or USA ONLY : correct setting against a separate order. AP82.10-P-8260-02A 
11 Check fog lamp, if required correct setting   AP82.10-P-8260-04A 
12 Turn off engine
