- Empty reservoir.
- Connect brake fluid changing unit.
- Open bleed screw (b) on master brake cylinder and allow brake fluid to flow out without any bubbles .
- Allow 50 cm3 of brake fluid to flow out of each brake caliper in the sequence of 1, 2, 3 and 4.
- Start engine.
- Open bleed screw on brake caliper (1), depressing the brake pedal sharply at the same time. Hold down for approx. 3 s and release slowly (carry out the operation 5 times)
Allow approx. 80 cm3 of brake fluid to flow out without any bubbles .
Bleeding pressure 2 bar .
- Repeat bleeding operation on brake calipers 2, 3 and 4, refer to item 6.
Bleeding accumulator of hydraulic unit
This work must only be carried out when the reservoir is empty or work has been carried out on the brake master cylinder, the charging pump, the accumulator, the hydraulic unit and the connecting pipes.
- Models 140.04/05/06/07: Connect vehicle wiring harness to brake master cylinder switchover valve (Y61).
- Switch off ignition.
- Loosen bleed screw "SP" and drain off accumulator.
- Tighten bleed screw "SP" and start engine.
- Loosen bleed screw "SP" until clear brake fluid escapes without any bubbles (approx. 80 cm 3 ) .
- Tighten bleed screw "SP" and wait for the charging process for the accumulator (charge pump runs audibly for approx. 30 s)
- Switch off engine.
