A diagnosis program is integrated into the control module for testing the control module and the electric airbag system components. When a malfunction is recognized the SRS malfunction indicator lamp (A1e15) does not go out after 4 s. The malfunctions detected are stored and can be read out as a pulse display on the SRS malfunction indicator lamp (A1e15) or digitally with a pulse counter.
Note on pulse readout
The numbers from 1 to 10 appear on the display field of the pulse counter.
The number 1 means that no malfunctions are stored in the system. All other numbers are assigned to a certain range of malfunctions. If a number of malfunctions are present in the system, the malfunction with the lowest pulse count is output first.
- If the LED U-Batt comes on after connecting , the pulse counter and the power supply for the pulse counter are okay.
- If during the test the first number reappears after at least two or more pulse readouts (numbers), all malfunctions have been read out.
Diagnosis with pulse readout
- Connect pulse counter according to connection diagram.
The LED U-Batt in the display field must come on.
- Switch on ignition.
- Press start button for 2-4 s.
- Readout 1 = no malfunctions in system.
