Use of firing device

A separate shop made adapter cable not included with the firing device, part number 126 589 00 90 00, is required for firing the airbags with the test connector (X 11/13).

  1. Check whether the steering wheel is mounted tightly on the steering column and if the airbag is tightly connected to the steering wheel (after firing an airbag the steering wheel is damaged and must also be scrapped).
  2. Switch off ignition, disconnect negative pole on battery and cover.
  3. When firing an airbag disconnect the red 12-pin connector (X11/13) below the right front entry molding.
  4. Connect plug on adapter cable (10) with connector (6). Connect connector on adapter cable (10) to red 12-pin plug.
  5. Retire to prescribed safe distance (10 m, corresponding to length of ignition cable), then press button (2) and button (3) simultaneously. After firing the indicator lamp (5) comes on.
