	Adjustment in longitudinal and vertical directions
1	Open engine hood		AR88.40-P-1000E
2	Loosen bolts (1) on engine hood hinge and adjust engine hood	For slight longitudinal and height adjustment For larger range of adjustment, see steps 4 - 10
3	Tighten bolt (1).		*BA88.40-P-1001-01A
4	Move engine hood to upright position		AR88.40-P-1000E
5	Remove gas-operated strut (12)	For this purpose, lift retainer (13)
6	Close engine hood	Gas-operated strut removed	AR88.40-P-1000E
7	Remove fender liner in front fender		AR88.10-P-1300E
8	Loosen nut (3) from engine hood hinge (2)	Gas-operated strut removed
9	Adjust the engine hood so that the front edges of the front fenders are flush with the engine hood and the top edges are in alignment	If a larger range of adjustment is needed, loosen engine hood catch top section, adjust and tighten	*BA88.40-P-1004-01A
10	Tighten nuts (3) on engine hood hinge (2)		*BA88.40-P-1002-01A
11	Adjust the height of the stop buffer (4) so that the top edges of the front fenders and engine hood are flush	If required, shim engine hood catch top section; if necessary ↓ position radiator crossmember (10) higher/lower on strut (10)
12	Install gas-operated strut (12)
	Adjustment in transverse direction
13	Loosen bolts (6) on engine hood catch upper section (7)
14	Adjust gaps on left and right	Gap around hoods, doors, and lids ↓	Fig 2

15	Align engine hood catch upper section (7) centered with engine hood catch in longitudinal and transverse direction and tighten		*BA88.40-P-1004-01A
16	Install fender liner in front fender		AR88.10-P-1300E
17	Check safety hook for proper function	For this purpose, close engine hood, unlock and check arrest on radiator crossmember.
18	Close engine hood, check for proper function		AR88.40-P-1000E
