Under normal conditions and under normal usage routine maintenance should be conducted in line with the following driven distances:
- Oil service or care service every 15,000 km or once a year.
- Maintenance service every 30,000 km or once every two years.
The conversion for models 124, 129 and 140 will be implemented with series production as of 7/93.
For vehicles pre 7/93 refer to the Maintenance Manual, volume 2.
The Active Service System (ASSYST) will be introduced as of 3/97 starting with model 210, and as of 6/97 including models 170, 129, 140, 202, 208. A new SERVICE sheet is valid for these vehicles, and a new Maintenance Manual, volume 4.
The maintenance scope can be ascertained from the currently valid work sheet.
Additional maintenance operations
The following operation numbers:
- 0780 Replace fuel filter
- 0781 Renew fuel pre-filter
- 0980 Air cleaner: replace insert
- 2551 Check wear status of clutch disk are to be conducted every 90,000 km or every four years.
When conducting the work the lining thickness of the brake pads must be tested indirectly via the brake fluid level.
Checking the fluid levels of:
manual transmission, automatic transmission, transfer case, front axle and rear axle has been replaced by a visual inspection of these units for oil leakage.
Since these units are not oil consumers like e.g. the engine then oil can only be leaked outwards.
In case there are any leaks, as before the cause must be identified and rectified as a separate job.
