Seat belt buckle switch, purpose - GF91.60-P-4013-02A

Model 163 as of 12/99 

The individual switches:

• Left front seat belt buckle/belt lock switch (S68/7),
• right front seat belt buckle/belt lock switch (S68/8),
• left rear seat belt buckle and seat belt wear convenience switch (S68/11),
• right rear seat belt buckle and seat belt wear convenience switch (S68/12)

monitor whether the three-point seat belt on the driver's seat, passenger seat and on the left and right rear outer seat sides are fastened. When the seat belt is not buckled this information is transmitted directly to the supplemental restraint systems control module (N2/7).

The supplemental restraint systems control module (N2/7) prevents actuation of the corresponding emergency tensioning retractors  when the seat belt is not fastened.

The driver airbag  is triggered even in stage 1  to protect the driver in the event of a front end collision when the left front seat belt buckle/ belt lock switch (68/7) is not closed.

In the event of a front end collision the passenger airbag  is also triggered in stage 1  when the seat occupied and child seat recognition sensor in front passenger seat (B48) recognizes a passenger and the right front seat belt buckle/belt lock switch (S68/8) is not closed (vehicles with left-hand steering).
