Destination guidance in non-digitized map area function - GF82.61-P-4001E
MODELS 208, 210with CODE (352a) COMAND operating and display system except CODE (498) Japanese version
For journeys outside the digitized map area (e. g. company premises, multistory car parks, field paths), but still within the CD-ROM map border, the navigation computer switches over to the "Destination not in digitized map area " function.
The COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3) shows the message:
"OFF ROAD "
The following is displayed if the vehicle is outside the CD-ROM map border (outside the country):
"NO MAP "
In both cases only a basic position finding (dead reckoning) with rectification takes place with the GPS data (no map matching).
A (limited) route guidance can be conducted only with specification of the:
- straight-line distance to the destination and
- the direction to the destination (as an arrow).
Upon returning to the digitized map area the "Route guidance in digitized map area " is automatically resumed. The GPS position is used to help determine the roads on which the vehicle could be located. During this process a slight delay in the route guidance may result.
In the event that the "NO MAP" message is displayed the complete route guidance can be resumed if an international CD-ROM
for the appropriate country is inserted.
