IMPORTANT

The set-up is described for the left side of the vehicle and is also applicable by analogy for the right side. The item numbers in parentheses apply for the straightening tool on the right side.

Stickers with the part number and an arrow are attached to the straightening tools. The arrow should always point toward the front of the vehicle when the tool is installed properly. The straightening tools for the left side of the vehicle are also indicated by an L on the sticker.

  1. The front longitudinal member can be checked during repair work with the M8 bumper mounting bolts or attached precisely for replacement with fixture 3 (4) bolted to carrier (1) 2.

  2. The height of the longitudinal member and its alignment in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle can be fixed with straightening tool 5 (6) and folding support 7 (8). These are used primarily for rear end repairs.

  3. The wishbone mounts can be checked for dimensional accuracy with the front fixtures 11 (10), rear fixtures 28 (29) and locating plug.

    Fasten the wishbone mount with the standard wishbone mounting bolt (80) and M14 nut to weld in.

  4. The use of the gage, tolerance and locating position on the front fixture 10 (11) applies by analogy for the rear fixture 29 (28).

  5. The straightening bench can be aligned with the locating hole (FV) in the front axle cross member with fixture 13 and associated gage pin 14.

    NOTES Use straightening sets for specific model!

  6. The base support 15 (16) includes support plate 17 (18) for supporting the front spring and fixture 21 (20) for the upper wishbone bearing mounting point.

  7. The front spring support can be checked and fastened precisely for welding in with support plate 17 (18) and the gage and locating plate with ring groove 19.

  8. The correct position for the front spring support is determined by the diameter (A) of the spring plate and the smaller diameter of the gage and locating plate 19, whereby the ring groove remains visible.

  9. The support can be fastened in the correct position for replacing the front spring with the larger diameter of the gage and locating plate 19, whereby the ring groove is not visible.

  10. Fixture 21 (20) for the upper wishbone bearing mounting point can be bolted to the basic support 15 (16) with the M12 x 45 Celette bolts.

    NOTES

    It is necessary to insert the M12 x 45 Celette bolts through the basic support 15 (16) from below to ensure that fixture 21 (20) is bolted to the basic support 15 (16) without play.

  11. The installation position of the upper wishbone bearing mounting point can be checked or fastened precisely for replacing the front end or wheelhouse with gage and locating plug 22.

  12. Straightening tool 23 can be used for fastening and checking the two steering mounting points with the mounting and gage plugs. Can be used for vehicles with left-hand and righthand steering.

    NOTES Use straightening sets for specific model!

  13. The replacement front end or wheelhouses can be fastened to the zero dimension (without tolerance) with mounting plugs 24 and the M10x1.5x83 steering mounting bolts through the steering bolt holes in straightening tool 23.

  14. The position of the steering can be checked in the installed state with the thick pin diameter on gage plug 25. When the steering position is correct, the thick pin diameter on gage plug 25 should not extend beyond the hexagonal surface of the steering bolts and edge A on straightening tool 23 should be within the tolerance groove B on gage plug 25.

  15. The position of the steering mounting points with the steering removed can be checked in the lateral and longitudinal directions as well as height with the thin pin diameter on gage plug 25.

  16. If the steering mounting points are correctly positioned it should be possible to insert the thin pin diameter on gage plug 25 into the bolt holes in the longitudinal member up to stop C and edge A on straightening tool 23 should be located within the tolerance groove B on gage plug 25.

  17. Straightening tool 26 for the steering idler arm can be used with gage plug 27 on vehicles with left-hand and right-hand steering when the steering idler arm is removed.

    NOTES Use straightening sets for specific model!

  18. The correct position of the steering idler arm bearing can be checked in the transverse and longitudinal directions with gage plug 27 and the height with contact surfaces D on straightening tool 26.
  19. For replacement the steering idler arm bearing mount can be fastened with the original M10x1.5x75 bolt for the steering idler arm bearing mount and M10 nut on straightening tool 26.

  20. The body can be fastened via the holes in the outer longitudinal member with front fixture 31 (30) and rear fixture 43 (44). For pulling work the body can be attached to the fixture using tensioning chain (a) tightened to a torque of TORQUE SPECIFICATION .

  21. Support 35 (34) with basic part 33 (32) can be used for checking and locating the rear engine mount support. The support 35 (34) can be screwed onto the bracket for the engine mount with M10x25 bolts with the engine mount removed.

  22. Support 35 (34) can be used together with basic part 33 (32) with the engine mount removed or installed. Use hole pattern (a) when engine mount is removed and hole pattern (b) when engine mount is installed. When the engine mount is installed it is also necessary to install spacer sleeves 37 (36) for the bolt head support on support 35 (34).

  24. The straightening bench can be aligned using the gage hole (K) located to the left of the vehicle center with fixture 39 and locating plug 38.

  25. The dimensional accuracy of the propeller shaft bearing mount can be checked with fixture 40 and basic part (MZ 080) and fastened for replacement with M10x30 bolts.

  26. Attach fixture 40 with basic part MZ 080 using hole pattern (C).

  27. The front mount point for the rear axle can be checked and located with the rear axle removed using basic part 41 (42) together with cylindrical fixture 43 and centering sleeve 44. The bracket (d) can be fastened to the straightening tool with M12x1.5x150 mounting bolt.

  29. Application sequence with rear axle installed:
    1. Set vehicle on, center edge of stop plate (a) with edge of straightening tool.
    2. Unscrew original rear axle mounting bolt through straightening tool.
    3. Insert and arrest centering sleeve 44.
    4. Screw in M12x1.5x150 mounting bolt through centering sleeve 44 and tighten.

  30. Basic part 49 (48) can be used together with cylindrical fixture 50 and centering sleeve 51 for checking and locating the rear mount for the rear axle with the rear axle removed. Fasten with M12x1.5x110 bolt.

  31. The rear mounting point for the rear axle can be located with the rear axle installed with basic part 49 (48), support block 43 and centering sleeve 51. When attaching support block 53 align with sheet metal stop (d).

  32. The vehicle can be clamped to straightening tool 49 (48) at the rear mounting point for the rear axle without having to remove the original rear axle mounting bolt using tensioning tool 54.

    Application sequence: 

    1. Insert centering sleeve 51 and arrest, slide support block 53 over centering sleeve 51.
    2. Set vehicle onto support block 53.
    3. Insert tensioning tool 54 between sheet metal stop (d) and rubber mount for rear axle.
    4. Clamp sheet metal stop (d) onto support block 53 with tensioning screw 55.

  33. Fixture 57 (56) for shock absorber dome with rear axle installed or removed.

  35. When the shock absorber dome is correctly positioned it should be possible to insert the thin pin diameter on the gage and locating plug through the hole in the shock absorber dome into the straightening tool.

  36. The longitudinal member can be located to the zero dimension (without tolerance) for replacement by inserting the second stage of the gage and locating pin 58 through the hole in the shock absorber dome on straightening tool 57 (56).

  37. The cross member or rear center section with cross member can be checked and attached precisely for replacement with fixture 61 (62) screwed onto the basic support 59 (60).

  38. Install bolt 64 from inside toward outside for checking and replacing cross member (a). Position washer 65 (sheet metal thickness of rear center section) between cross member (a) and fixture 61 (62).
