	Remove/install
1	Shift transmission to "N"
	Risk of explosion caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries	No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers.	AS54.10-Z-0001-01A
2	Disconnect ground line at battery	Installation: Code radio, clock and adjust stationary heater timer if necessary.

5	Unclip cable harness from oil filler pipe and unplug connector (X22/2)	Installation: Replace cable ties.
6	Unscrew transmission output rpm sensor (B49)	Installation: Replace sensor sealing ring and cable tie when reinstalling.

10	Drain gear oil in torque converter	Unscrew oil drain screw on torque converter (10). Installation: Replace seal.	*BA27.20-P-1001-01C
		If the transmission fluid is burnt or contains wear particles, the oil cooler lines and oil cooler must be flushed out: ↓

11	Unscrew oil lines (3) to oil cooler
12	Disconnect torque converter from driver plate at flange	This requires removal of cover (12).	*BA27.20-P-1002-01C
13	Remove rear engine support (6)		AR22.10-P-1160GV
14	Unbolt propeller shaft (5) from transmission output flange and transfer case, and remove bolts	The propeller shaft is easier to remove if the transmission is removed at an angle. Installation: When installing the propeller shaft ensure that this is aligned between the mounting flanges of the transfer case and automatic transmission. Replace bolts.	*BA41.10-P-1001-01B
15	Remove stabilizer		AR32.35-P-2050BD
16	Undo cable tie on cable harness running along the frame to the left of the transmission	Facilitates reinstallation of the transmission due to the restricted space available.
17	Unbolt the transmission at the crankcase and remove downwards at an angle, at the same time removing the propeller shaft	Secure torque converter to prevent it from falling out. Installation: Screw on ground strap (4) on the right of the transmission.
18	Remove torque converter	Installation: Lightly lubricate torque converter at drive flange.	AR27.20-P-0500-01B
