Test 12: Brake Fluid/Parking Brake Lamp Malfunction

  1. Disconnect brake fluid sensor and parking brake switch harness connectors. Start engine and let idle. If brake fluid/parking brake lamp does not illuminate, go to next step. If brake fluid/parking brake lamp illuminates, check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If wiring is okay, replace electronic circuit board.
  2. Turn ignition switch off. Using a jumper wire, bridge terminals at brake fluid level sensor harness connector. Start engine and let idle. If brake fluid/parking brake indicator lamp illuminates, go to next step. If brake fluid/parking brake indicator lamp does not illuminate, check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If wiring is okay, replace electronic circuit board.
  3. Turn ignition switch off. Using a jumper wire, ground parking brake switch harness connector terminal. Start engine and let idle. If brake fluid/parking brake indicator lamp illuminates, check brake fluid sensor and parking brake switch and replace as necessary. If brake fluid/parking brake lamp does not illuminate, check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If wiring is okay, replace electronic circuit board.
