Test 11: Brake Pad Indicator Lamp Malfunction

  1. Disconnect left and right front brake pad sensor harness connectors. Start engine and let idle. If brake pad indicator lamp does not illuminate, go to next step. If brake pad indicator lamp illuminates, check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If wiring is okay, replace electronic circuit board.
  2. Turn ignition switch off. Using a jumper wire, bridge terminals at right front brake pad sensor harness connector. Start engine and let idle. If brake pad indicator lamp illuminates, go to next step. If brake pad indicator lamp does not illuminate, check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If wiring is okay, replace electronic circuit board.
  3. Turn ignition switch off. Using a jumper wire, bridge terminals at left front brake pad sensor harness connector. Start engine and let idle. If brake pad indicator lamp illuminates, replace defective brake pad sensor. If brake pad indicator lamp does not illuminate, check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If wiring is okay, replace electronic circuit board.
