Removing and installing tie rod - AR46.40-P-0200A

MODIFICATION NOTES

10.9.03 Reference to adjusting toe on front axle replaced by reference to chassis alignment check Step 8  
REMOVINGINSTALLING Removing, installing     
DANGER Risk of fatal injury  if the vehicle slips or topples off the lifting platform Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
NOTES Notes on self-locking bolts and nuts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
1 Remove engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105AB
2 Remove front wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Removing and fitting wheels   AP40.10-P-4050Z
3 Unscrew nuts (10h) on tie rod (10) IMPORTANT Counter the ball pin using an Allen wrench if necessary.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.40-P-1001-01A 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.40-P-1002-01A 
4 Install thrust piece (051) on respective joint SPECIAL TOOL Figure
5 Press off tie rod (10) using puller (050) IMPORTANTInstallation  : Clean grease off tapers and press the ball joints of the tie rod securely into the steering arms.

6 Check joints of tie rod (10) for play and damaged rubber boots IMPORTANT Replace tie rod if necessary.
IMPORTANTInstallation  : Note installation position (conical joint with lock nut towards steering knuckle arm).
 
7 Install in the reverse order    
8 Check toe on front axle and adjust if necessary See: ↓  
    Performing chassis alignment check AR40.20-P-0200A
