Removal and installation of the lining on the driver's door - ra72001400100x(0100)

Model 140- A. Sedan, B. Coupe 

A. Sedans

Crank window open.
Cover (1) on mirror triangle inside press off and remove upward (see item 1, removal, installation)
Filler piece below cover (1) remove.
Entry light (2) unclip at bottom, disconnect electrical
Wooden cover (3) connections and lay light to side. unhook at rear and remove. Use special tool
Screw in area of door handle
Cover for door pocket
140 589 16 63 00.
screw out (2 each).
open.
Screw in door pocket unscrew (2 each).
Screw on lock cover plate (4) unscrew and remove lock cover plate downward.
Door liner (5) on interior door panel press off with plastic wedge 110 589 03 59 00 at bottom, front and rear (10 clips); position plastic wedge directly at each clip.
Door liner (5) starting at front pull upward out of channel while simultaneously pulling door liner (5) away from interior door panel at bottom.
Linkage on interior door actuating mechanism (1st version) unhook.
Bowden cable hook on interior door actuating mechanism (2nd version) unhook.
Bowden cable bracket on housing of interior door actuating mechanism (2nd version) unclip.
Electrical connections on door liner (5) disconnect and guide wires through.
Door liner (5) lay to side.
Before installing the door liner check vapor seal on interior door panel, replace vapor seal if damaged.
Reinstall in opposite order.

Removal, installation 

  1. Press off cover toward inside with wedge 115 589 03 59 00 and remove upward.
  2. Remove filler piece below cover.
  3. Remove entry light.

  4. Unhook wooden cover at rear using special tool 140 589 16 63 00 by inserting blade of special tool between wooden cover and upholstery on door panelling, then pull special tool all the way up (arrows). At the same time the two rotating bars are turned back (refer to item 6, arrows).

  5. Tip wooden cover toward inside at top and bottom using special tool.

  6. Remove wooden cover toward front.

  7. Unscrew the screws in area of door handle (arrows).
  8. Open cover above door pocket.

  9. Remove plugs (arrows) using awl. Puncture plugs at outer edge only and pull out.

  10. Screw out the screws in area of door pocket (arrows), screw off door cover plate (4) and remove.

  11. Press door liner off of interior door panel at bottom, front and rear using plastic wedge 110 589 03 59 00 (10 clips); insert plastic wedge directly at clip.
  12. Beginning at front top, remove door liner from channel whilst simultaneously pulling door liner away from interior door panel at bottom.

  13. Unhook linkage to interior door actuating mechanism at front (1st version).

    Unhook Bowden cable hook on interior door actuating mechanism (2nd version).

    Unhook Bowden cable holder on housing of interior door actuating mechanism (2nd version).

  14. Disconnect electrical connections on door liner and guide wires through liner.
  15. Lay door liner to side.
  16. Check vapor seal on interior door panel, replace vapor seal if damaged.
  17. Complete electrical connection on door liner, guide wires through liner.
  18. Hook or clip in linkage for interior door actuating mechanism at front (1st version). Clip in Bowden cable bracket on housing for interior door actuating mechanism (2nd version).

    Hook Bowden cable hook to interior door actuating mechanism (2nd version). Adjust cable, refer to (Removal and installation of driver's door actuating mechanism, interior  ).

  19. Insert lock button into door liner at rear and press door liner into channel in interior sealing rail at top.
  20. Engage plug-in clips on interior door panel in door liner (10 clips).

  21. Screw in screws in area of door handle (2 each) and tighten.

  22. Screw in screws in area of door pocket (arrows).
  23. Install door lock cover plate (4) on door lock and screw down.

  24. Install wooden cover; turn both catches to installation position.

  25. Insert wooden cover with catches into recess in door covering.

  26. Press wooden cover forcefully at front to engage.
  27. Reconnect and install entry light (2).
  28. Install filler piece on inside of mirror.
  29. Install cover (1).

B. Coupes

Crank window open.
Armrest above door pocket open.
Cover (1) on exterior mirror holder press off with plastic wedge and remove upward.
Door sealing frame (2) pull out of groove in area of chrome trim panels (3 and 4).
Screws (2 each) on chrome trim panel (3) screw out and remove upward.
Screws (6 each) on chrome trim panel (4) screw out.
Chrome trim panel (4) remove toward rear (2 clips).
Plugs (5) in area of door pocket pull out with awl and screw out screws below (3 each).
Cover (arrow) in area of front door pocket press off with plastic wedge and remove.
Screw (arrow) on inside of door handle screw out.
Door entry light (6) on door liner (7) unclip and pull off connections.
Door liner (7) press off of inner door panel at rear, bottom and front with plastic wedge (10 clips). Position plastic wedge immediately next to clips.
Door liner (7) pull out of groove at rear starting at top, simultaneously pull door liner (7) away from inner door panel at bottom.
Bowden cable hook (11) on door interior actuating mechanism unhook, unclip Bowden cable holder (13) on housing for door interior actuating mechanism and pull out.
Plug connection (arrows) on seat adjustment switch (9) disconnect.
Door liner (7) lay down and guide wires for entry light (6) through door liner.
Reinstall in opposite order. Observe installation note.
Function check.

Installation note 

Replace missing or damaged clips (arrows) on door liner (7).

Before installing the door liner check the vapor seal (14) on the inner door panel and replace, if damaged.

After clipping in the Bowden cable check the Bowden cable adjustment on the door liner. Adjust Bowden cable (11) with knurled screw (12) on the mount (13) so that when the door interior actuating mechanism is pulled the handle still has 5 mm of travel after the rotating catch on the door lock opens.

When installing the door liner hook the plastic hooks (arrow) onto the inner door panel, simultaneously guide the locking button (15) through the door liner and insert the door liner into the clips (5 each) at the top of the window shaft.

Replace missing or damaged pins (arrow) for fastening chrome trim panel (4).

Removal, installation 

  1. Open crank window.
  2. Pivot armrest above door pocket up.
  3. Press off cover (1) on exterior mirror holder with plastic wedge and remove upward.
  4. Pull door sealing frame (2) out of groove in area of chrome trim panels (3 and 4).

  5. Remove screws (2 each) on chrome trim panel (3) and remove chrome trim panel upward.
  6. Remove screws (6 each) on chrome trim panel (4) and remove chrome trim panel (4) toward rear (2 clips).

  7. Pull out plugs (arrows) in area of door pocket with awl and screw out screws below (3 each).

  8. Press cover (arrow) off in area of front of door pocket with plastic wedge and remove.

  9. Screw out screw (arrow) on inside of door handle.
  10. Unclip door entry light (6) on door liner (7) and pull off connections.

  11. Press door liner (7) off of inner door panel at bottom rear and front with plastic wedge (arrow). Position plastic wedge immediately next to clips to pry (10 each).

  12. Pull door liner (7) out of groove starting at top rear while simultaneously pulling door liner (7) away from inner door panel at bottom.

  13. Unhook Bowden cable hook (11) on door interior actuating mechanism, unclip Bowden cable mount (13) on housing for door interior actuating mechanism and pull out.

  14. Disconnect plug connections (arrows) on seat adjustment switch (9).
  15. Lay down door liner while guiding wires for entry light (6) through door liner.
  16. Reassemble in opposite order. Observe installation note.
  17. Check for proper function.
