Test 8: Coolant Temperature Gauge

Disconnect coolant temperature sensor harness connector. Connect Signal Generator (DTR-8416) between ground and coolant temperature sensor harness connector terminal, according to manufacturer's instructions. Ensure coolant temperature gauge reading at each setting of signal generator is as specified. See COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE TESTING  table. If coolant temperature readings are as specified, replace coolant temperature sensor. If coolant temperature readings are not as specified, check wiring and electronic circuit board. If wiring and circuit board are okay, replace coolant temperature gauge.
