Test 20: Check Engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp

  1. Disconnect diagnostic module connector. Start engine. If check engine light does not illuminate, go to next step. If check engine light illuminates, check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  2. Connect a fused jumper between diagnostic module connector terminals No. 2 and 9. Start engine. Check engine indicator should illuminate. If check engine indicator does not illuminate, check the following items and repair as necessary:
    • Check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
    • Check electronic circuit board.
    • Check diagnostic module.
