| 6 | Unhook pull cable (16) on release handle for parking brake | ||
| 7 | Remove release handle | ||
| 8 | Remove housing (17) for release handle (2 screws, arrows) | ||
| 9 | Remove paneling on left and right A-pillars | AR68.30-P-4050F | |
| 10 | Remove cover for left and right loudspeakers | AR68.10-P-1050F | |
| 11 | Remove left and right wood moldings | AR68.10-P-1180F | |
| 12 | Remove left and right side air nozzles | AR68.10-P-1100F | |
| 13 | Remove light module (24); for this purpose unscrew screw (arrow, 8 mm), remove light module downward and unclip connectors | ||
| 14 | Remove glove box | AR68.10-P-1400F | |
| 15 | Remove insulating mat (25) | ||
| 16 | Disconnect passenger airbag straps on cross member | ||
| 17 | Remove cover below instrument panel (right) | AR68.10-P-1520F | |
| 18 | Remove center console | AR68.20-P-2000F | |
| 19 | Remove spectacles compartment or cassette compartment | AR68.20-P-2450F | |
| 20 | Remove radio | AR82.60-P-7502EA | |
| 21 | Remove push-button control module | for automatic heater (HEAT) or air conditioning (Tempmatic) for air conditioning (automatic) code 581a |

| 22 | Remove cover on center console | AR68.20-P-2350F | |
| 23 | Remove center air nozzle | AR68.10-P-1150F | |
| 24 | Screw off guide (34) at bottom of center console (2 screws, arrows) | ||
| 25 | Unscrew screws (1, 2 and 3) (8 mm) | ||
| 26 | Unclip sun sensor (B32) upward and pull off connector | ||
| 27 | Remove ignition key from ignition lock | ||
| 28 | Lift instrument panel (6), push connector for sun sensor through protective padding and then remove instrument panel | ||
| 29 | Place instrument panel (6) on suitable surface | ||
| Installation | |||
| 30 | Install sheet metal clips (3 each) for fastening instrument panel on cross member | ||
| 31 | Check seals (37) above air outlet on heater housing, replace, if necessary | ||
| 32 | Install air duct (26) on driver and passenger side | ||
| 33 | Move instrument panel (6) through driver's door opening into vehicle passenger compartment | ||
| 34 | Guide passenger airbag straps between heater housing and driver airbag downward. | ||
| 35 | Pull connector for sun sensor (B32) out at protective padding, connect sun sensor and clip in | ||
| 36 | Install steering column and ignition lock in openings in instrument panel (6) | ||
| 37 | Install instrument panel (6) with defroster nozzles on heater housing air outlet | ||
| 38 | Expose all electric wires to instrument panel | ||
| 39 | Screw in screws (1, 2 and 3) loosely | ||
| 40 | Screw guide (34) to bottom of center console, simultaneously set center console into humps (arrows) on rear compartment air duct | ||
| 41 | Insert floor covering on left and right in area of center console (arrow) | ||
| 42 | Install front cover (11) below instrument panel (right) | AR68.10-P-1520F | |
| 43 | Tighten all mounting screws (1-5) for instrument panel | ||
| 44 | Fasten airbag straps on cross member (arrows) | ||
| 45 | Insert insulating mat (25) | ||
| 46 | Install center air nozzle | AR68.10-P-1150F | |
| 47 | Install push-button control module | for automatic heater (HEAT) or air conditioning (Tempmatic) for air conditioning (automatic) code 581a |

| 60 | Install release handle for parking brake and hook in pull cable | ||
| 61 | Install cover below instrument panel (left) | AR68.10-P-1500F | |
| 62 | Install steering wheel | AR46.10-P-0100B | |
