Removing and installing battery - AR54.10-P-0005GC

REMOVINGINSTALLING Removal, installation    
DANGER Explosion hazard  from explosive gas. Danger of poisoning and acid burns  when battery acid is swallowed.
Danger of acid burns  to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries.
Fire, sparks, naked flame and smoking prohibited.
Wear safety gloves, safety clothing and safety glasses which protect against acid. Only pour battery acid into suitable, appropriately marked containers.

1 Remove ignition/glow start key    
2 Open battery cover in front passenger-side footwell IMPORTANT Do not disconnect ground cable from battery cover  
3 Connect quiescent current preservation unit COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS *WH58.30-Z-1012-09A 
4 Remove bracket (2)    
5 Disconnect ground cable (3) on battery (G1)   AR54.10-P-0003A 
6 Disconnect positive cable (4)    
7 Disconnect gassing line (5) at battery (G1)    
8 Take out battery (G1) IMPORTANT If battery defective ↓  
REFER TO FORMS Dispose of the battery All models OS54.10-P-0001-01Z 
9 Reinstall in opposite order
