Wheel Carrier: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel. Apply parking brake. Remove axle shaft collar nut. Remove brake caliper, and wire aside. DO NOT stretch or bind brake hose. Remove brake rotor.
  2. Remove parking brake shoes. Remove parking brake control cable. Remove camber strut-to-wheel carrier bolt. See Figure. Remove radius rod-to-wheel carrier bolt. Radius rod-to-wheel carrier bolt head is accessible through brake disc backing plate.
  3. Remove track rod-to-wheel carrier nut. Using a puller, remove track rod from wheel carrier. Disconnect stabilizer bar from wheel carrier. Remove thrust rod-to-wheel carrier bolt. Remove lower suspension arm bolt from wheel carrier. Pull wheel carrier from rear axle shaft.
