Automatic Locking Differential (ASD)

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove cover from control module box. Control module box is located in right rear corner of engine compartment. Using Control Module Remover (140 589 01 33 00), remove ASD control unit from vehicle. ASD control unit is second module in from right side of vehicle.
  2. Using Adapter Cable (201 589 00 99 00), bridge sockets No. 8 and 10 at ASD control unit connector. Start engine and let idle. Open bleed screw on right annular cylinder. Annular cylinder is located on differential. Let hydraulic fluid flow until fluid is free of air bubbles. Check reservoir and fill to proper level.
  3. Turn ignition off. Remove adapter cable. Install ASD control unit into control module box in vehicle.
