Notes on fault memory extended vehicle network (EVN) - AD00.19-P-2000-02A

IMPORTANT

The fault memory can only be read out with the Hand-Held Tester.

The fault codes of a system can be filed in several control modules, therefore the fault memory is to be read out in all control modules relevant to the system.

When the fault memory is read out, all the faults filed in the control module appear, i.e. fault codes can also appear which do not affect the system currently being read out.

Faults not relevant to the system are described in the respective system.

Note on fault code

The fault is current when the fault code is displayed against a black background.

Depending on the type of fault, detailed information on faults or partial data appear for most faults.

>Ω Resistance too high

<Ω Resistance too low

SHORT-CIRCUIT TO POSITIVE Short-circuit to positive

SHORT-CIRCUIT TO GROUND Short-circuit to negative

OPEN-CIRCUIT Cable open-circuit

The following additional information such as fault frequency can be read out for some fault codes.

Fault frequency

The number of times a fault has occurred, for example:

4 = temporary fault, occurred 4 times
