Extended vehicle network (EVN) actuations - AD00.19-P-2000-01A

Model 202 as of 1.6.97, 208, 210.081/281, 210 (except 210.081/281) as of 1.3.97

Wiper system

The switch signal is input into the electronic ignition switch control module (N73) in a voltage-coded form. From there the signal reaches the driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) via CAN data buses. This actuates the wiper motor (M6/1). The windshield washer pump (M5/1) is also actuated by the driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1).

Rain sensor (B38)

The rain sensor signal is received by the overhead control panel control module (N70) and transmitted to the driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) via CAN data buses.

Rear wipe/wash

The switch signal is input from the driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) in a voltage-coded form.

With the wipe function the switch signal from the driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) reaches the PSE (A37) via CAN data buses. This actuates the rear window wiper motor (M6/4).

With the wash function the switch signal from the driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) reaches the windshield washer pump (M5/1) or (M5/3).

Headlamp cleaning system

The switch signal is input from the driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1). This actuates the windshield washer pump (M5/1).

Front dome lamp

The door switches (S17/3, S17/4) transmit a ground signal to the PSE control module (combined) (A37). The PSE control module (combined) (A37) transmits a CAN message "Door open" to the overhead control panel control module (N70).

Rear dome lamp (not on model 208.4 (Cabriolet))

The door switches (S17/5, S17/6) transmit a ground signal to the (PSE) (A37). The PSE (A37) actuates the rear dome lamp (E15/3).

If the rear dome lamp switch on the overhead control panel control module (N70) is operated, the overhead control panel control module (N70) transmits a CAN message "Rear dome lamp ON" to the PSE (A37). The PSE (A37) actuates the rear dome lamp (E15/3).

Door entrance/exit lamps

When a door is opened the respective door switch transmits a ground signal to the PSE (A37). The PSE (A37) places a CAN message "Door open" on the interior bus. The door control module of the open door receives the CAN message and actuates the associated entrance/exit lamp.

Rear window defroster

The rear window defroster switch is integrated in the heater or A/C pushbutton control module. If the "Rear window defroster" pushbutton switch is pressed, it transmits a voltage-coded signal to the driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1). The driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) transmits a CAN message "Rear window defroster ON" to the PSE control module (combined) (A37). The relay for the rear window defroster integrated in the PSE (A37) is actuated. At the same time the driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) actuates the LED in the pushbutton switch.

The message from the driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) to the PSE (A37) and to the LED in the pushbutton switch is interrupted by pressing the pushbutton switch again. A time cutout which is controlled by the driver-side signal-acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) occurs after approx. 12 minutes.

Special features on model 208.4

When the soft top is closed, the rollover bar (RB)/soft top operation control module (N52)  puts the message "Soft top closed" on the CAN databus. As soon as the soft top is opened this message is terminated and the PSE control module (combined) (A37) switches off the rear window defroster element (R1)  switches off and stops it being switched on again while the soft top remains open.
