Complaint:

Oil loss in area around plug socket

IMPORTANT Always check oil level in automatic transmission before carrying out repair work.

Possible cause Remedy
O-rings deformed Install new O-rings
IMPORTANT Only up to transmission end no. 1211278, material changed thereafter (color marking: red/brown).
Intermediate connector deformed Install new intermediate connector
IMPORTANT Only up to transmission end no. 1309692, material changed thereafter
The shell is not fitted correctly on the shift valve housing. The connector is therefore not centered in the bush at the shell and does not seal the entire circumference. Break away the stay at shell of electric control module (see arrow in graphic).
IMPORTANT Only between 09/97 and 02/98 up to transmission end no. 776962, production changed thereafter.
Contacting at shell leaks. Automatic transmission fluid in wiring harness, sometimes up to ETC control module (N15/3). Install new shell for electric control module as well as intermediate connector and O-rings.
