When the steering wheel is turned to the left, the check valve (4n) is without pressure and the oil flowing in from above the reaction piston (4l) can return to the reservoir.
Pressure is now applied to check valve (4m) and the valve closes.
As the speed of the vehicle increases, the power applied to the speed-sensitive power steering solenoid valve (Y10) decreases.
More pressure oil therefore flows via the restrictor orifices (8a, 8b) onto both sides of the reaction piston (4l). Pressure onto one side of the reaction piston (4l) increases. The force on the rotary slide therefore becomes even greater and the driver must apply more steering torque in order to turn the steering wheel.
