Test 3: Left Rear Heated Seat Switch Circuit
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Mercedes-Benz E55, 1998 Mercedes-Benz E430, 1998 Mercedes-Benz E320, and 1998 Mercedes-Benz E300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Using Harness Adapter (124 589 47 63 00), connect Breakout Box (124 589 00 21 00) to rear heated seat control module. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between terminals No. 9 and 13 at breakout box. When left rear heated seat switch is off, voltage should be 6-8 volts. In position No. 1, voltage should be 2-4 volts. In position No. 2, voltage should be 0-1 volt. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, replace rear heated seat control module.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between terminals No. 9 and 13 at breakout box. When left rear heated seat switch is off, resistance should be greater than 20 k/ohms. In position No. 1, resistance should be approximately 165 ohms. In position No. 2, resistance should be 1-2 ohms. If resistance is as specified, left rear heated seat switch circuit is okay at this time. If resistance is not as specified, replace left rear heated seat switch.
