Test 18: Memory Switch Resistance

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Mercedes-Benz E55, 1998 Mercedes-Benz E430, 1998 Mercedes-Benz E320, and 1998 Mercedes-Benz E300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect appropriate power seat control module harness connector No. 1. See Figure. Measure resistance between harness connector terminals No. 5 and 12. When memory switch button No. 1 is depressed approximately 330 ohms should exist. In neutral position, greater than 20 k/ohms should exist. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If wiring is okay, replace power seat switch.
  2. Measure resistance between harness connector terminals No. 4 and 12. When memory switch button No. 2 is depressed approximately 330 ohms should exist. In neutral position, greater than 20 k/ohms should exist. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, check wiring. If wiring is okay, replace power seat switch.
  3. Measure resistance between harness connector terminals No. 1 and 12. When memory switch button No. 3 is depressed approximately 169 ohms should exist. In neutral position, greater than 20 k/ohms should exist. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If wiring is okay, replace power seat switch.
  4. Measure resistance between harness connector terminals No. 1 and 12. When memory switch save button is depressed approximately 330 ohms should exist. In neutral position, greater than 20 k/ohms should exist. If resistance is as specified, memory switch resistance is okay at this time. If resistance is not as specified, check wiring. If wiring is okay, replace power seat switch.
