Function

The remote trunk release can be activated with the vehicle key or the remote trunk release switch (N72s15) in the lower control field control module (N72).

For safety reasons the function "open trunk lid" cannot be performed at speeds > 8 km/h.

Function sequence

Unlocking trunk lid with RF remote control

An RF remote control signal "open trunk lid" is transmitted by the vehicle key and received by the antenna (2). It is transferred as a CAN message from the overhead control panel control module (N70) to the electronic ignition switch control module (N73). The electronic ignition switch control module (N73) checks the coded signal and, if valid, sends a CAN message to the PSE control module (combined) (A37).

The PSE control module (A37) opens the trunk lid pneumatically.

Opening trunk lid via infrared remote control

The infrared signal travels from the receiver units (A26/1, A26/2) to the door control modules (N69/1, N69/2). A CAN message is transmitted from the door control modules to the electronic ignition switch control module (N73). The electronic ignition switch control module (N73) checks the coded signal and, if valid, sends a CAN message to the PSE control module (A37). The PSE control module (A37) opens the trunk lid pneumatically.

Releasing trunk lid with remote trunk release switch (N72s15)

When the switch (N72s15) is pressed the lower control field control module (N72) sends the CAN message "open trunk lid" to the PSE control module (A37) and the PSE control module (A37) opens the trunk lid pneumatically.

Control of LED in switch (N72s15)

When the trunk lid is open a ground signal travels across the trunk lamp switch (S17/8) to the PSE control module (A37). The PSE control module (A37) transmits a message to "open trunk lid" to the lower module (A37) transmits a message to "open trunk lid" to the lower control field control module (N72) and the LED in the switch (N72s15) comes on.

Manually opening the trunk lid

When the pushbutton on the trunk lid lock is pressed the PSE control module (A37) is actuated by the remote trunk release switch (S15/1) and the trunk lid unlocked pneumatically. If the trunk lid lock is in the workshop position the remote trunk release switch (S15/1) has no function.
