Function

When one of the doors is opened the internal illumination is switched on in the overhead control panel control module (N70) as well as the associated entrance/exit lamp.

If a rear door is opened only the rear dome lamp (E15/3) is switched on.

When the ignition is "OFF" and a door is opened the interior illumination and entrance/exit lamps are switched off automatically after approx. 5 min. by the overhead control panel control module (N70).

If the interior illumination is switched on in the overhead control panel control module (N70) or rear dome lamp (E15/3) by a switch in the overhead control panel control module (N70), switch-off is accomplished automatically after approx. 30 min. when the ignition is in the "OFF" position and the doors are closed.

Function sequence

Front dome lamp

The door switches (S17/3, S17/4) conduct a ground signal to the PSE control module (combined) (A37).

The PSE control module (combined) (A37) sends a CAN message "door open" to the overhead control panel control module (N70).

Rear dome lamp

The door switches (S17/5, S17/6) send a ground signal to the PSE control module (A37). The PSE control module (A37) switches on the rear dome lamp (E15/3).

If the switch for the rear dome lamp is actuated on the overhead control panel control module (N70), the overhead control panel control module (N70) sends a CAN message "rear dome lamp ON" to the PSE control module (A37). The PSE control module (A37) switches on the rear dome lamp (E15/3).

Entrance/exit lamps

When a door is opened the associated door switch sends a ground signal to the PSE control module (A37). The PSE control module (A37) sends a CAN message "door open" to the passenger compartment bus. The door control module for the open door receives the CAN message and switches on the associated entrance/exit lamp.
